Habits of the Rich

Habits of the Rich and Poor

Have you ever wondered why some people are rich and some people are poor?  Research has shown that people who are rich tend to do things in a certain way and poor people tend to do the same (but not in the same way).  So what are the things rich people do and how does that compare to the things that poor people do (or don’t do)?  I realize that this is an over-simplification and that it doesn’t take into consideration a lot of factors but I believe that the information in the following info-graphic to be generally accurate and I believe it can be used to increase your chances to be counted among the rich as opposed to that of the poor (and feel free to weigh in on the Controversial Question and Answer section below);

rich people poor people

My personal opinion is that this should be made into a huge poster that should be posted in plain sight in every class room and in every home on the planet.

Questions and Answers (the answers to these questions are my opinions–feel free to share your opinions in the comment section below);

Why do studies show that wealthy people exercise more than poor people?

It allows them to have more energy which allows them to be more productive at work.  It allows them to be healthier so they require fewer doctor visits which reduces the number of sick days they take.  It allows them to control their weight because studies have shown that people who are fit are promoted more than people who are overweight.  Wealthy people also want to be able to actively enjoy their wealth when they retire.

Why do most wealthy people read more than most poor people?

Because wealthy people love to gather information that can be used to accumulate more wealth (or prevent the loss of existing wealth).  Wealthy people also love to gather information that can result in better health and more wisdom.  Wealthy people simply realize, moreso than poor people, that knowledge is power.

Why do wealthy people network more than most poor people?

Why do more wealthy people, compared to poor people,  teach good daily success habits to their children ?

I know plenty of people from poor to rich and everything in between who do nothing but teach their kids how to exercise good success habits on a daily basis.

Most wealthy people make their kids volunteer 10+ hours per month. Most poor people do not. Why?

Most wealthy people encourage their children to read 2+ non-fiction books per month. Most poor people do not. Why?

Most poor people watch reality TV. Most wealthy people do not.  Why?

Most wealthy people watch less than 1 hour of TV each day. Most poor people watch more than 1 hour of TV each day.  Why?

Most wealthy people write down their goals. Most poor people do not.  Why?

Why do more rich people maintain a to-do list than poor people?

    Hi Roland!

    This is easily one of the best posts I’ve read all summer. Such an amazing infographic that summarizes all these facts I read in “Forbes” and “Entrpreneur” magazines into one.

    Warren Buffet is easily one of my favorite icons in history. Studying him can be truly motivational and helpful more than people may realize.

    I hope you don’t mind me Pinning this info graph! If so drop me a comment by letting me know.

    Thanks a ton for this.. Very useful stuff.

    Hello, Roland

    Everything you mention here is so true about habits of the rich 🙂

    The most successful people in life, stand on the other side of the fence and do the exact opposite of everyone else.

    My dream is to have financial freedom and I’ve had to make a few sacrifices to help get me there. 2 of which include sacrificing nights out on the town and leaving my TV switched off until 9pm at night.

    I also study a lot of personal development and attend networking events too 🙂

    The bottom line is, “if we want something we’ve never had, we must do something we’ve never done” to be successful.

    I will see you at the top, my friend.

      I think it is amazing that even if you were to do just a fraction of what wealthy people do you increase your chances of escaping poverty…you may not become wealthy but at least you will be able to live a better life. What is even more amazing to me is that some people are not willing to make small changes in their habits.
